Job Description:
Job Overview:
The Caseworker plays a pivotal role in delivering trauma-informed services to refugees and qualified immigrants, ensuring their smooth resettlement and journey towards self-sufficiency. Collaborating closely with clients, colleagues, and external partners, the Caseworker develops tailored service plans to address individual needs, utilizing a wide array of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other resources in alignment with program guidelines.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate pre- and post-arrival services to ensure clients' basic needs are met and facilitate their integration into the new environment.
- Conduct intake assessments, develop self-sufficiency plans, and offer personalized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
- Monitor client progress, address challenges, and optimize resource utilization to achieve established goals.
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions, input data into databases, and assist with tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and partner organizations, fostering relationships with service providers.
- Utilize personal vehicle or public transportation to travel and transport clients and materials as required.
- Provide training and supervision to volunteers and interns as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in the human services field required.
- Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills.
- Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment and communicate effectively across diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in languages spoken by IRC's clients desired.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital tools for data entry and research.
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Working Environment:
- Hybrid work arrangement with remote and in-office days within San Diego County.
- Occasional fieldwork within the service delivery area.
- Office hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5 pm; occasional evenings and weekends required.
