Mission and Objectives:
The UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) in Ukraine is seeking a Communications and Translation Support Assistant to promote gender equality, reproductive health, and youth empowerment. The volunteer will assist in administrative and translation tasks to support the Communications and Advocacy unit in achieving its objectives.
Task Description:
- Assist with administrative and translation tasks, including daily written translation requests between English and Ukrainian.
- Organize payments for the Communications and Advocacy Unit on a monthly basis and cover tenders and required administrative procedures.
- Coordinate external vendors, designers, and procurement tasks for the Communications and Advocacy Department members.
- Prepare minutes for meetings and assist with weekly written and oral translations as needed.
- Provide translation, proofreading, and editorial assistance for UNFPA reports and materials.
- Assist in organizing a communications master calendar to ensure coverage of all key UN Days and UNFPA CO events.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: 27 - 80
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of Ukraine.
- Required experience: 3 years of experience in a relevant area, with at least 1 year in Communications, Procurement, or Translation.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Linguistic Studies or related field.
- Languages: Fluent in Ukrainian and English.
- Competencies: Professionalism, Integrity, Teamwork, Commitment to continuous learning, Communication, Flexibility.
Entitlements:
- Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): USD 1587 (equivalent in UAH) provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and normal cost of living expenses.
- Entry lump sum payment of USD 400.
- Medical and life insurance coverage provided by UNV.
- Leave entitlements including annual leave, learning leave, certified sick leave, and uncertified sick leave.
