Position Overview:

Tezza is seeking a passionate VP/Director of Product Development and Commercialization to spearhead the creation of a more sustainable food system by introducing a new category of cheese to the market. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in product development to lead a mission-focused team, balancing hands-on involvement with strategic leadership. Our approach prioritizes taste and cost-effectiveness, offering plant-based products that outperform their animal-based counterparts. We're starting with cheese, aiming to address the environmental impact of dairy production.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the commercialization of new fermented food categories, overseeing teams responsible for small-scale manufacturing, process development, equipment selection, and technology transfer.
• Direct late-stage product development, including formulation optimization, packaging development, scale-up, product testing, shelf life extension, and labeling.
• Ensure food safety and quality assurance through program development and routine execution.
• Collaborate with founders to identify and mentor new leaders as the organization grows.
• Cultivate a company culture where mission-driven goals align with financial success.

Qualifications:

• PhD in food science, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 15 years of leadership experience, including hiring and managing large teams.
• Proven track record in food product commercialization, from bench to full-scale manufacturing.
• Experience in food quality and safety, preferably with perishable foods.
• Willingness to actively engage in operational tasks and provide guidance to team members.
• Ability to balance attention to detail with strategic vision.
• Strong problem-solving skills and conviction in our mission and values.
