Job Description:
Job Overview: The Employment Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting newly arrived refugees and qualified immigrants in achieving self-sufficiency through employment. This involves guiding them through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and providing career advancement services.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake, assessment, and program orientation for eligible clients.
- Develop comprehensive employment plans and budget strategies for each employable adult.
- Provide job readiness training, job search coaching, and facilitate connections with job opportunities.
- Cultivate relationships with local employers and staffing agencies to identify suitable employment opportunities for clients.
- Assist clients and employers with post-placement issues and ongoing employment needs.
- Monitor client job performance, wage levels, and related metrics.
- Document each client interaction in accordance with program requirements.
- Collaborate with coworkers, partner organizations, and service providers to benefit clients.
- Issue and monitor Matching Grant cash assistance payments to enrolled clients and vendors.
- Utilize personal, insured vehicle or public transportation as needed for client transport and materials delivery.
- May train and supervise support staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred.
- Work Experience:
- Relevant professional experience in workforce development required; minimum of 2 years' experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
- Experience in job placement and job readiness training is advantageous.

- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration in multicultural environments.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and solve problems.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Proficiency in English required; proficiency in Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and internet research.
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Working Environment:
- Combination of standard office environment, remote work, and fieldwork within the service delivery area.
- Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.
