MHPSS Trainer

Mission and Objectives:

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Doha, Qatar is seeking an MHPSS Trainer to provide technical training on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) matters to IOM staff and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with the MHPSS team to ensure the effective implementation of training programs and the integration of MHPSS services.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and provide technical training for MHPSS staff based on global guidelines and standards.
  • Train IOM staff and partners on topics such as psychosocial aspects of the refugee experience, Psychological First Aid, and basic psychosocial support skills.
  • Ensure completion and analysis of pre-/post-knowledge tests and on-the-job supervision checklists.
  • Support the integration of mental health services throughout the operation by utilizing SOPs and collecting feedback from partners.
  • Implement trainings in line with IOM global MHPSS standards and guidelines, coordinating with relevant stakeholders for the development and review of training materials.
  • Document and report all training activities conducted, collaborating with the MHPSS team.
  • Coordinate with other departments to identify and address cases of child abuse and domestic violence requiring MHPSS capacity building.
  • Organize workshops and trainings to disseminate key information and advocacy messages on MHPSS.
  • Build capacity of IOM staff, focal points, and community volunteers on MHPSS-related issues.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities and contribute to programmatic planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: University Degree in Psychology, Public Health, Education, or relevant field with a minimum of three years of relevant working experience; or High School Diploma with at least five years of relevant experience.
  • Experience: Proven work experience as an instructor, excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming, experience working with at-risk community members, and liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing, and presentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office environment and data entry.
  • Languages: Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Dari/Farsi and Arabic is desirable.
