Background: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network, working in some 170 countries and territories. Since 1993, UNDP has been supporting the Kyrgyz people in their struggle against poverty. UNDP Kyrgyzstan focuses on various thematic areas, including peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Context: The UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) has been supporting Kyrgyzstan since 2010, particularly in response to inter-ethnic clashes. The current PBF eligibility cycle (2021-2026) focuses on strengthening trust between citizens and authorities, fostering greater mutual trust between identity groups, and facilitating cooperation between border communities.
Mission and Objectives: This UN Volunteer assignment is part of the Peacebuilding Fund Secretariat project, administered by UNDP and hosted by the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO). The mission is to support the coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and visibility of PBF projects in Kyrgyzstan.
Task Description: Under the supervision of the Peace and Development Officer/PBF Secretariat Manager and overall guidance of the Peace and Development Adviser, the UN Volunteer will:
- Lead the development of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plans.
- Coordinate monitoring, data collection, and reporting on the Peacebuilding Fund's Projects.
- Develop and expand strategic research and data partnerships.
- Facilitate the efficient flow of M&E data within UN organizations, the Government, and civil society partners.
- Advise on timely readjustments of strategies and corrective actions based on M&E information and learning.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: 27 - 80
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than Kyrgyzstan.
- Required experience: 3 years of experience in relevant areas such as peacebuilding, good governance, monitoring and evaluation of peacebuilding programs, or project management.
- Education: Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences or related fields.
Languages: Fluency in English (required), working knowledge of Russian (desirable).
