Context:
Malawi has made significant progress in improving the well-being of its population, including reducing child mortality and HIV transmission rates. However, poverty remains widespread, with significant challenges faced by persons with disabilities. This consultancy aims to conduct a comprehensive situation analysis of persons with disabilities in Malawi, focusing on their access to social services, protection, and economic opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Generate estimates of disability prevalence and types in Malawi.
- Assess access to social services, community participation, and the protective environment for persons with disabilities.
- Analyze existing programs targeting persons with disabilities and evaluate the impact of national policies and strategies.
- Identify barriers to social inclusion and provide recommendations for policy and program development.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social sciences, statistics, demography, international development, economics, or related field.
- At least 10 years of research experience in human rights and development, with a focus on disability issues.
- Experience in conducting situation analyses or similar reports on persons with disabilities.
- Familiarity with Washington Group methodologies and statistical analysis software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
