Background: Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a related organization of the United Nations. As the leading UN agency in the field of migration, IOM promotes humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. Operational in Indonesia for over 40 years, IOM Indonesia works on various activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants, and communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the system and referral for mental health assessment for refugees, including psychiatric examination and evaluation of psychiatric supportive tests.
  • Evaluate cases with mental disorders referred by panel physicians, provide comprehensive reports, and give recommendations on fitness to fly.
  • Assist in developing strategies to address the mental health needs of the migrant population.
  • Ensure proper identification of refugees and migrants during psychiatric assessment and record relevant health information.
  • Provide training on psychiatric services delivery and conduct workshops for program staff and stakeholders.
  • Organize the collection, processing, and analysis of migration psychiatric health data and surveys.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • University degree in Psychiatric Medicine from an accredited academic institution with at least four years of professional experience.
  • Valid license to practice as a psychiatrist in Indonesia is mandatory.

Experience:

  • Four years of continuous mental clinical experience.
  • Experience in assisting emergency psychiatric activities in an international organization, UN agency, or hospital.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage uncertainty and cope with difficult emotions.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (oral and written) is required.

  • The appointment is subject to funding confirmation, medical fitness, verification of education certificate, and security clearances.
  • IOM applies the local United Nations Salary Scale.
