Description:
The Programme Specialist, MNH Partnerships and Advocacy will join the Maternal Health Thematic Fund (MHTF) team at the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Branch of UNFPA HQ in Nairobi, beginning August 1, 2024. Reporting to the Health Adviser Midwifery and Human Resources, and supervised by the MHTF Coordinator, this role focuses on strengthening partnerships and coordination mechanisms for organizations working on midwifery, human resources for health, EmONC, and MNH service delivery.
Responsibilities:
Building and Sustaining Partnerships:
- Establish and coordinate a new inter-agency, multi-sectoral midwifery coordination platform.
- Support the coordination of the MHTF flagship initiative Global Midwifery Acceleration Roadmap.
- Organize work plan activities for coordination platforms to strengthen midwifery education, EmONC, and MPDSR.
- Facilitate collaboration with stakeholders to enhance midwifery services.
Communications and Advocacy:
- Develop MNH communications and advocacy materials.
- Support the planning of high-level interagency meetings, webinars, workshops, and conference events.
- Assist with the development of donor reports.
Technical Support for EmONC and Midwifery Integration:
- Contribute to the development of technical midwifery and MNH materials.
- Provide inputs on national and regional maternal and newborn health strategies.
- Support countries in strengthening midwifery education globally.
Project and Information Management:
- Stay updated on research and innovations in midwifery and reproductive health.
- Develop donor reports and contribute to literature reviews, peer-reviewed articles, and funding proposals.
- Act as the MHTF country focal point for assigned countries.
Administrative and Miscellaneous Duties:
- Perform other duties as required by supervisors and the MHTF Coordinator.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Advanced University degree in midwifery or public health.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in the development sector, including 2 years at the international level in low resource settings.
- Experience in the multilateral system and leading inter-UN agency coordination mechanisms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MNH in low resource settings and advocacy skills.
- Experience in report writing, literature reviews, funding proposals, and high-level meeting/event planning.
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in French is an asset.
