Senior Programme Assistant (Counter Trafficking)
Mission and Objectives:
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bangkok, Thailand is seeking a Senior Programme Assistant to support the implementation and monitoring of counter-trafficking interventions under the Protection Unit. The successful candidate will contribute to the protection and assistance of vulnerable migrant populations and victims of trafficking.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support with day-to-day management and implementation of counter-trafficking and victim protection activities, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
- Assist in conducting legal reviews and field assessments, and provide inputs to the process.
- Map relevant agencies for training and capacity development, support the creation of training materials, and assist in conducting training sessions.
- Design, plan, and implement awareness-raising activities on counter-trafficking and protection of vulnerable groups.
- Liaise with national stakeholders, organize work meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and conduct individual interviews with victims of trafficking.
- Monitor relevant government policies related to project activities and provide updates to the supervisor.
- Prepare budget forecasts, work plans, donor reports, and other project-related documents.
- Maintain positive relationships with government counterparts, project partners, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings with government and civil society counterparts, particularly related to counter-trafficking and migrant rights.
- Undertake travel duty within Thailand to monitor and support field activities.
- Assist in organizing events such as capacity-building workshops and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Education: University degree in law, international relations, political science, social science, or related field with at least four years of relevant professional experience; or high school diploma with at least six years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Experience working for NGOs, international organizations, or government institutions, particularly in protection and assistance of vulnerable migrant populations and counter-trafficking interventions.
- Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality, knowledge of program implementation and evaluation, understanding of migration dynamics in Thailand, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Thai (oral and written) is required. Working knowledge of Burmese or other Southeast Asian languages is desirable.
