Organizational Setting and Reporting:
The Statistician position is within the Programme Management and Business Analytics Section (PMBAS) in the Human Resources Services Division (HRSD) of the Department of Operational Support (DOS) at the United Nations Secretariat. The Statistician reports to the Chief of Unit.
Responsibilities:
- Design business intelligence and reporting solutions for strategic planning and performance evaluation.
- Collect, compile, validate, and evaluate data from human resource management systems.
- Develop statistical models and data collection systems for business intelligence.
- Participate in projects for enhancements to existing human resource management reporting systems.
- Maintain statistical standards related to human resource management.
- Support management and end-users of human resource management system reporting tools.

Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in statistics, data science, information management, computer science, mathematics, economics, or related field.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in statistical data collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination.
- Experience with data modelling for reporting, database query languages, and data quality assurance methods.
- Experience with data related to human resources management and data analytics tools is desirable.
Languages:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French and/or another official UN language is desirable.
Assessment:
- Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and competency-based interview.
