Organizational Context:
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, operates globally to save lives, protect rights, and build better futures for refugees, displaced communities, and stateless people. This role is based in the Resettlement Unit at our Sub-Office in Manta, Ecuador.

Position Overview:
As the Associate Resettlement and Complementary Pathways Officer, you will work under the supervision of the Senior Protection Officer, managing the local Resettlement team. Your responsibilities will include identifying, assessing, and processing cases for resettlement and complementary pathways, ensuring adherence to established procedures and quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, interview, and assess resettlement needs, providing counseling and support to individuals.
  • Monitor resettlement activities, ensuring progress against targets and transparency in case submissions.
  • Review and provide feedback on resettlement submissions to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Support the dissemination of information on resettlement policies and procedures to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the implementation of global resettlement policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures for resettlement are in place and aligned with UNHCR standards.
  • Contribute to fraud prevention measures and maintain contact with resettlement countries and partners.
  • Stay informed about political, legal, and social developments in the area of responsibility.
  • Support the development of policy and guidelines for resettlement practices.
  • Apply an Age, Gender, and Diversity perspective in all aspects of resettlement processes.
  • Assist in producing statistics, reports, and briefing notes on resettlement activities.
  • Contribute to protection and solutions strategies in the region.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, International Law, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with an Undergraduate degree, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in casework or case management, preferably in a refugee context.
  • Knowledge/experience in the region is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, with excellent drafting skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Location and Conditions:

  • The successful candidate will be based in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
  • Full-time role with working hours Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30.
  • English and Spanish language knowledge is mandatory (B2 level).
